Sefla Joseph is a Canadian artist, originally from Montreal. She lives in Santa Cruz County, California, where she has been teaching abstract figurative acrylic painting and expressive charcoal and chalk work. Sefla has taught for over twenty years and works with all levels of painters. She has a unique approach to coaching and critique that motivates and inspires her students, whether "newbies" or accomplished painters.

Newsprint pad for warmups, 14” X 17” or bigger
A pad of 18” X 24” Strathmore 400 or 500 Series Charcoal/Pastel paper
be sure it includes some Gray-toned paper and some White paper
4 sheets of watercolor paper, any size
White gesso
Black and white acrylic paint
A small palette
Paintbrush
Pencil
Compressed charcoal (big pieces!)
Vine charcoal
Charcoal pencil
White pastel or white chalk
A few other pastel colors of your choice
Kneaded eraser
Blending stump (for charcoal)
Black ink, Walnut ink
(and any other color inks of your choice)
a twig to use as an inking tool
a container with water
paper towels
